While I have informally been doing this for years, it was during my time as an educator at our Medical School that I noticed a huge difference between medical students and nurses. That difference? Clear goals. They also constantly sought out feedback as a way to improve. Many nurses that I had worked with, on the other hand went into nursing because a family member or friend had, or they really enjoyed taking care of patients, but lacked real future goals and were instead reactionary and waiting until they were unhappy to plan their next move. We need to change that.
